Description

The Steering Boot is a part which protects the steering rack from extraneous substances such as water, dust and other pollutants. It also prevents the exposure of the rack to excessive heat. The steering boot is usually made of rubber.

It is fitted between the tie rod end and the steering rack and pinion, and acts as a seal between them. It also allows for the lateral and vertical movement of the rack ends while steering or driving over bumps.

The steering boot can eventually develop cracks or leaks. This can cause oil or dirt to seep into the steering rack and cause it to fail. If you experience a rough steering, you should consider inspecting your steering boot.

Symptoms of a failing Steering Boot: Visible damage to boot, Steering feels tight, Grinding noise when turning..etc.

Steering Boot Replacement will ensure proper lubrication of the steering rack takes place, as well as keep harmful contaminants from damaging the steering rack. This will save you lots of money in repairs over time.
